Guest Nights by Region
Contributions to National Growth
The year-over-year change in national guest nights, split into the prefectures that produced it, over the last two years. Each segment is that prefecture's contribution in percentage points and the segments sum to the black line, which is the published national growth rate. The five largest contributors in the newest month are named; every other prefecture is bundled into one disclosed residual, never dropped. The dashed rule marks the January 2026 change in survey method.
Prefecture Detail
Every prefecture on the latest published month, so that every row and every share is the same month. Guest nights and occupancy are official; growth, share and the 2019 comparison are calculated from them. The ten transport-bureau regions are listed separately because they republish the same nights as the prefectures — the two must never be added together.
Municipality Detail
The towns and city wards the survey names individually. A prefecture average hides what happens inside it: a hot-spring town running at 80% occupancy can sit in a prefecture that reads as merely full. The Agency prints a municipality only in months where at least ten of its properties responded, so the list changes from month to month and a town absent this month is missing, not empty. City names are shown in Japanese, as published.
