## What is Tokyo's CPI inflation rate?

Consumer prices in Tokyo's 23 wards were 2.7% higher in September 2026 than a year earlier, on the Tokyo ward-area Consumer Price Index (all items), the advance reading the Statistics Bureau of Japan publishes about three weeks ahead of the national index. That compares with 1.9% in August 2026. Core CPI (all items less fresh food) was 2.7% and core-core CPI (less fresh food and energy) was 3.0%.
