## What is Japan's inflation rate?

Japan's consumer prices were 2.1% higher in September 2026 than a year earlier, on the headline Consumer Price Index (all items) published by the Statistics Bureau of Japan. That compares with 1.9% in August 2026. Core CPI (all items less fresh food) was 2.2% and core-core CPI (less fresh food and energy) was 2.4%.
